35.71 miles - Rome-Gandolfo
« on: February 25, 2009, 05:28:43 am »
Summary
Rome-Gandolfo (35.71 miles)
Originating from Rome's Piazza Venezia, the Rome-Gandolfo takes you through ancient Rome's most historic monuments towards the new Appian Way before reaching the small italian town of Castel Gandolfo overlooking Lake Albano.   Castel Gandolfo is also the Pope's summer residence.   Soak in gorgeous views as you ride around the lake's northern rim before looping back towards Rome Center.   On the way back follow the historic Old Appian Way back to Piazza Venezia.

Another great Sunday morning ride.  You'll find a lot of cyclists along this route.  Riding the Appia Nuova is safe enough but beware of the motoryclists rocketing by.
